Konferenz PLEA 2016 in Los Angeles

The 32st edition of the International Conference on Passive Low Energy Architecture (PLEA) was held in Los Angeles, from 11th to 13th July 2016. On this occasion, the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST) was involved into the presentation of several articles concerning its research on the integration of sustainability criteria into the urban and architectural design process. In particular, two of the presentations focused on the Active Interfaces research project.

PLEA is an organization engaged in a worldwide discourse on sustainable architecture and urban design through international conferences, workshops and publications. It has a membership of several thousand professionals, academics and students from over 40 countries.

Since 1982, PLEA organizes an annual international conference across the globe. PLEA 2016 is organized by Cal Poly Pomona, the University of Southern California and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The theme of PLEA 2016 is Cities, Buildings, People: Towards Regenerative Environments and will explore the interactions between people and buildings to achieve livable, regenerative environments at multiple scales. Given that we at PLEA value research and practice, each track will strive to combine exemplary case studies and research papers.

The LAST presented several articles based on ongoing research and dealing with the integration of sustainability criteria at the building and neighborhood scale. Among them, two papers presented the preliminary results of the Active Interfaces project :

Sergi Aguacil, Sophie Lufkin, Emmanuel Rey, "Architectural design scenarios with building-integrated photovoltaic solutions in renovation processes : case study in Neuchâtel (Switzerland)",

Giuseppe Peronato, Stéphane Bonjour, Jérémie Stoeckli Emmanuel Rey, Marilyne Andersen, " Sensitivity of calculated solar irradiation to the level of detail: insights from the simulation of four sample buildings in urban  areas".
